How to Disable Daytime Running Lights

This how-to will explain how to disable the low-beam headlights from being activated when the switch is in the "off" position. This functionality is stock for most North American Cabrios, but is not required by law in most areas.

  1. Remove the headlight switch housing from the dash.
  2. The yellow wire is the wire for DRLs. You can cut it to permanently disable the DRLs, or continue for a temporary solution.
  3. Unplug the wires from the switch, and cover or remove pin #15 (labeled TFL). This way, if you ever want to return this functionality, you don't have to repair a cut wire.


  • Now the low beams will only be activated when the headlight switch is ON.
